Help RHL students continue to receive Free lunches and breakfasts

We need to reach 30%!

lynx lunch

For 2025-26 school year, free meals are available to families of all primary schools including River HomeLink.

River HomeLink students will receive free breakfast and lunch this school year. Please fill out a Child Nutrition Eligibility and Education Benefit Application again for the 25-26 school year, so RHL can continue to receive free meals for the following 4 years. There is NO Breakfast service on Wednesdays!

Child Nutrition Eligibility and Education Benefit Application

We need to reach 30% by 10/31/2025

Hello River Families

Hundreds of RHL students have been accessing our no cost / no charge meals this year.  These meals are funded by a grant from the USDA and it was awarded to us based on the percentage of students that qualify for free or reduced prices meals also known as Child Nutrition Eligibility & Education Benefit

We are currently at 24%

We need to be at 30%

If we reach that mark again this year the grant will be extended for the next 4 years.  If we do not, meal charges will return next year.

Please check the family income requirements and fill out an application in Qmaltiv or download and print an application. Please note that even if your child has qualified for free meals in the past, you will still need to reapply.

Thank you for your attention to this matter - it is good for the RHL community

Also note: It's not just food!  If your family qualifies for Child Nutrition Eligibility & Education Benefit it also covers other fees charged by the school like field trips, athletic fees and tests like PSAT, ACT and SAT and more.

RHL Cafeteria Expectations

RHL Cafeteria Expectations
For Students & Parents/Families

2025–2026

At RHL, we want every student’s lunchtime to be a safe, positive, and enjoyable part of the school day. To help make that happen, we have a few simple expectations in place so that our cafeteria stays clean, calm, and welcoming for everyone.

During Breakfast & Lunch:

  • Please stay seated for at least 10 minutes so everyone has time to enjoy their meal.

  • Kindergarten students should stay with their parents or adult supervisor throughout lunch.

  • Students in Grades 1–4 may head out to recess after 10 minutes, but only after notifying a parent or adult supervisor.

    A few friendly reminders:

  • Stay seated while eating your lunch.

  • Please walk—no running in the cafeteria. (Running can lead to slips, spills, or bumps!)

  • Use indoor voices so everyone can enjoy a calm environment.

  • When you're finished eating, remember to:

    • Clean up your area—return your tray and throw away trash.

    • Use the soapy water spray bottles and towels provided to wipe down your table.

    As lunch winds down:

  • With multiple groups using the cafeteria each day, it’s important that we all help with a smooth transition. Around the 5-minute mark before the end of lunch, students and supervisors should begin getting ready to leave and help with final clean-up.

Thanks for helping us keep the RHL cafeteria a safe and happy place for all!

Parking Lot Safety

RHL Parking Lot Procedures: Safety and Efficiency

Our parking lot is shared by River HomeLink, Maple Grove Primary, and Battle Ground Virtual Academy. For safety reasons we recommend cooperation and attention to start and dismissal timing for each school are essential.

To keep our students and families safe, all drivers must follow RHL’s parking lot expectations during drop-off and pick-up.

  • Drivers - Cell phones may not be used while driving or stopped along the curb.

  • Drop off and pick up curbside only - Do not stop in the driving lanes.

  • Use crosswalks and walkways - Never cross between vehicles.

  • Prepare to exit and enter vehicles - Plan in advance students to exit and enter cars quickly and efficiently.

  • After your student exits or enters the car, pull forward immediately to keep traffic moving.

Traffic Reminder:
All RHL family vehicles must enter from the East entrance. Entering from the West causes backups onto Eaton Boulevard and may result in citations from the Battle Ground Police Department.

Please review the attached map for correct entry and exit routes. Thank you for doing your part to keep our parking lot and campus safe and running smoothly!

Schedules

  • RHL: 8:15 AM–3:00 PM (Pick-up completed by 3:20 PM)

  • MGP: 9:00 AM–3:40 PM (Arrive for pick-up after 3:20 PM)

Cellphone use at RHL

lynx on phone

RHL Cell Phone Policy

The board of directors has directed each school to adopt and implement the revised telecommunication devices policy (3245).  River HomeLink is adopting the following for our school.

What students can do

  • Bring cellphones and other personal electronic devices to school, but they must be silenced and remain out of sight (e.g., in a backpack) during class time, unless the student has been given permission by a teacher or school administrator.

  • Use cellphones and other personal electronic devices on school grounds before the beginning of the school day and after, during passing times and lunch and during emergency situations.

What students can't do

  • Use cellphones and other personal electronic devices during class time, unless given permission by a teacher or school administrator for instructional or educational purposes and usage is monitored.

  • Send, share, view or possess content that violates district policies.

  • Take photos of or record other students without their explicit permission.

Discipline

Students who violate the cellphone policy will be subject to progressive disciplinary action up to and including confiscation of their phone/device and/or losing the privilege of bringing it onto school property. If a school chooses to confiscate the phone, they are required to ensure the security of the device. A school may require a parent/guardian to pick the phone up at the end of the school day.

  • Initial offense: Student is warned and reminded of the rules.

  • Repeat offenses:

    • The student’s mobile device will be confiscated and returned to the student at the end of the day.

    • Parents or guardians will be notified.

    • A meeting may be held with the student and their parent/guardian to discuss a success plan if excessive offenses continue.

    • The district may administer appropriate interventions and student discipline.
