A Note From The Principal's Office

Hello Falcon Families!

March is here, and with it comes a busy and exciting month at Prairie High School.  Foremost, it is Women’s History Month!  We are proud to honor the impact of women across the globe in culture, sciences, athletics, business, education, law enforcement and the judicial system, the arts, and so much more.  We encourage students to take this opportunity to learn about all the women who paved the way and to recognize the incredible contributions of the women in our own school community.

As we move into spring, we have several important events and celebrations to highlight.

  • SBA Testing – State testing is coming up, and we encourage students to get plenty of rest and do their best. More details on testing dates and preparation tips will be shared soon.

  • Incoming 9th Grade Forecasting – We’re excited to welcome our future freshmen! Forecasting for next year’s 9th graders gets started with the 8th grade tours, followed by Future Falcon Night on 3/11.  We encourage families to review course options and discuss selections together. More information is shared below!

  • Color Wars – Our annual Color Wars spirit event is coming up the week before Spring Break!! This is a great opportunity for students to show their school pride and class spirit.  Students should pay attention to the morning announcements to be ready to fully participate in the fun!

  • Winter Musical and Band Concert – Come enjoy some amazing shows featuring our PHS Players in The Prom (details below), and our dedicated student musicians at the band concert on Thursday, March 6th at 6pm!

  • Snow Make Up Day – School will be in session on March 14th as a regular schedule day, to make up for one of our two snow days in February.

Thank you for your ongoing support—let’s make it a great month!

GO FALCONS!

We hope to see you there!

As we have been navigating through the last few weeks there have been a lot of different illnesses going around. The Health Room can often be a very busy place. Please remember that any student that has a fever (temperature over 100⁰ F) must be fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications before returning to school. If your student is experiencing vomiting and/or diarrhea, they should not return to school until 24 hours after the last time they vomited or had diarrhea. See our district guidelines for keeping children home from school for more information.

If your student is needing to take medication throughout the school day; whether it is prescribed by a health care provider or it is over the counter, they need to have a medication in school form completed by a health care provider and signed by a parent/guardian. It must also be completed for students that self-carry/self-administer.  This form must be completed every school year.

Throughout the day we often have students that come to the health room and ask to rest or lie down due to non-illness related reasons. Unfortunately, due to the traffic that we get in the health room due to illness this is not always feasible. Additionally, the area in which the health room is located can be noisy due to its physical location.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
