A Message from the Principal's Office

Hello Falcon Families!

We are in the post-break home stretch!  With June 11th being our last student day (barring any unforeseen inclement weather), there are just about two months left in the school year.  That time will fly by, especially for our seniors with graduation being on June 5th.

As we approach this exciting milestone, we want to ensure all seniors stay on track for a successful finish.  Our hard-working school counselors have been communicating with families and students of seniors at risk of not graduating on time all year long; if you have any concerns about your child meeting all their graduation requirements on time, please reach out to their counselor.

Families of students in all grade levels, please check your child’s Skyward grades, and reach out to their teachers with any questions.

Please keep an eye out for more Senior updates as we get closer. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out. Let’s make these last two months memorable!

GO FALCONS!

– Mrs. Woehr

CBC Students Making an Impact at PHS!

Our Center-Based Classroom (CBC) students are an integral part of Prairie! They do a tremendous amount of work to make PHS a special place.

One example of their community service is our current Tab Drive to support the Ronald McDonald House. Our students also help beautify our campus by planting flower bulbs to bring some light and joy to their fellow students. Whenever we have state walks to send off our athletes or clubs to competitions, our CBC students make signs to support them and make the sendoffs special occasions. These are just a few examples of how our students help make Prairie a better place!

We are extremely proud of our kids and the positive impact they have on our campus!

Tales from the Classroom: Ms. Coker

As an educator at Prairie High School (English/History-400 building), I am committed to preparing students for the future, I integrate innovative tools like Magic Student and AI platforms like Quizizz into my English and History curriculum. These resources enhance students' literary skills and promote responsible usage of artificial intelligence.

In addition to leveraging technology, I am implementing project-based learning into my assessments. This approach allows students more freedom to choose how they demonstrate their understanding, fostering engagement and relevance in their projects. By personalizing their learning experiences, students can connect their academic work to real-world applications.

Furthermore, in my History and English classes, I emphasize the importance of understanding historical contexts and I strive to illustrate how being proficient readers and writers is essential for appreciating and upholding the values that the founders of the United States established regarding our natural rights as Americans--equal access to, "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness."

Through these efforts, I aim to equip students with the skills necessary for success in an increasingly complex world while instilling a sense of responsibility and awareness of their rights and duties as citizens.
