A Note From The Principal's Office

Hello Falcon Families!

It’s hard to believe we’re already in May and heading into the final stretch of the school year! There’s a lot happening this month, and we want to keep you in the loop on a few key events and opportunities for students.

First, Math SBA testing for 10th-grade students will take place this month. We’ll be using a half-day testing model to help minimize disruption to instructional time while giving students the space and support they need to do their best. Look for specific communications about the Math SBA coming closer to the testing window.  We appreciate your continued support in helping students arrive rested and ready.

At the same time, AP testing is underway, and we’re proud of the many students who have challenged themselves with college-level coursework this year. We know this can be a stressful time, so we’re also working to ensure students feel supported academically and emotionally.

As we approach the end of the school year, we’re focused on helping students finish strong—whether that’s making up assignments, preparing for finals, or engaging in celebrations and reflections on their growth.

We’re also incredibly excited for our upcoming Multicultural Assembly—a vibrant event that celebrates the many cultures and identities represented in our school community. Students and staff have been working hard to make this a meaningful and joyful experience, and we can’t wait to share it with everyone.

Thank you, as always, for being partners in your student’s learning and growth. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

GO FALCONS!

– Mrs. Woehr

Boundary Exceptions for 2025-2026 School Year

All families with in-district or out-of-district boundary exceptions (choice transfers) for the 2024-2025 school year need to reapply for the 2025-26 school year.

Please note a change to transfers for 2024-25 and beyond. Battle Ground Public Schools has switched from paper forms to an online application through the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction.

Applications for out-of-district student transfers in 2025-26 will be accepted starting at 7 a.m. on May 1. Applications submitted prior to that date will be denied, and the family will need to submit a new application after May 1. Applications will be processed in the order in which they are received.

More information about this process and forms are on the district website.

Class of 2025 Graduations

Graduation ceremonies will be held in just a few months. Learn about the plans for each school.

Speaking of graduation, did you hear that BGPS' class of 2024 had the highest graduation rate in more than a decade?

Finally, in recognition of the many ways that students achieve academic success, BPGS will expand recognitions at high school graduations starting with the class of 2028 (freshmen in 2025). Each high school will recognize the top 5% based on GPA but will not designate a valedictorian and salutatorian. Class rankings will continue to be available as needed. Learn more about this change.

Notes From The Nurse

As the 2024-25 School Year is coming to a close, the Health Room will be getting ready to send out our end of the year letters for students that have medications and life threatening health conditions. Please be on the lookout! Returning students next year that have medications at school, including over the counter medications, will need to have a new Medication in School Form completed by their health care provider.

If your student has medications at school you may need to come pick them up, depending on if they are controlled substances or not. Some medications (such as inhalers or Epi Pens) can be sent home with students. Please keep in mind that if they are also emergency medications, they may need to be available until the last day of school. If you have concerns, please reach out to me and we can discuss further arrangements.

Students that are not in compliance with immunizations will also need to come into compliance (or work towards coming into compliance) to make sure that they will be allowed to start school on the first day of school. Letters for those students will also be going out soon.

A few last reminders, as the weather becomes nicer and the temperatures are warmer make sure students have a water bottle and are staying hydrated! We tend to see a lot of students come to the health room with headaches later in the day and it is mostly due to not drinking enough water.  We also do not have any medications to give students, it is against the law to provide any medications to students without a medication in school form. And lastly, we do not carry sunscreen in the health room. Please make sure that if your student will be out in the sun during the school day and has the potential to burn, that they have sunscreen with them or are wearing it.

Your School Nurse,

Micki Moss, MN, RN, NCSN

Running Start Opportunities

The Running Start program allows students who have completed 10th or 11th grade but have not yet started the next grade to enroll in college courses tuition-free, earning both high school and college credits simultaneously. This program can help students get a head start on their college education while saving money. New for this summer: Students who have completed 10th grade can now participate in Running Start during the summer term, taking up to 10 credits.

Fee waivers are available for students who qualify for free or reduced-price school meals, ensuring cost is not a barrier to participation. For more details, including how to apply and access fee waivers, please contact your school counselor or visit the Running Start webpage.

Employee Recognition Award

Do you know an amazing staff member? The new Employee Recognition Awards will highlight staff members who reflect the district’s strategic plan goals. Three nominees will be selected each month and recognized at a board meeting. Everyone is welcome to submit a nomination.
