Notes from the Principal's Office: Watt's Happening

Winter break is a great opportunity for students to catch up on any outstanding work, reflect on their progress, and set themselves up for a strong finish to the semester. When we return, there will be just three weeks left in the first semester, making this a key time for focus and follow-through. Taking advantage of the two-week holiday break can make a meaningful difference in ending the semester with confidence and success.

After break, we will also begin conversations around forecasting for the 2026–2027 school year.

Have a great break, Falcons!

December Schedule Reminders:

*One-hour late starts: Jan. 7, 14, 21 and 28

*Jan. 1-2: No school due to winter break

*Jan. 19: No school, Martin Luther King Jr. Day

*Jan. 22-23: Three-hour early release for most schools due to end of semester

Forecasting for 26-27

This month, teachers, counselors, and administrators will be speaking with students about what courses they should take next year in preparation for Forecasting in early/mid February. It would be helpful for parents to take a look at our Course Guide and have conversations with students about their goals and course selections for next year. We'll send out more information in February.

When parents or guardians come to campus during the school day, it's imperative that they sign in at the main office.

For safety reasons, we need to know who is on our campus at all times!

The Stoic philosophers believed we should not dwell on our past failures or future uncertainties. Rather, we should focus on what we can control and act immediately to improve.

Goal setting is important, but our mindsets are equally, if not more, important. For example, if you have not performed academically as well as you would have liked in 2025, then begin positive changes on day one. Don't just talk about it; be about it!

What will be your theme for the year? Courage? Resilience? Positivity?

It is never too late to start! There will never be a "perfect" time to begin positive changes. That time is now!

Quiggle's Corner

Happy New Year! As we step into January, I want to take a moment to welcome everyone back and set the tone for a fresh start. A new year brings new opportunities, new goals, and a renewed sense of connection within our school community. January is the perfect time to reset, refocus, and re-establish healthy routines.

While trying to get back into the groove remember, progress is built from small consistent steps. This month, I'd like to emphasize the following: 1. Intentional Communication - slowing down, listening first, and seeking to understand 2. Healthy habits - good sleep, smart choices, healthy relationships 3. Community Support - reminding each other that they aren't alone while navigating challenges.

Thank you for being a part of the Prairie community that strives for safety, respect, and understanding. I am looking forward to another month of positive interactions, shared successes, and opportunities to help one another grow. Here's to a strong and steady start of 2026!

– Deputy Quiggle
