Notes from the Principal's Office: Watt's Happening |
Hey Falcons:
As we move into the winter season, we want to take a moment to celebrate some of the wonderful things happening at our school. Students have been showing strong engagement in classroom activities, participating in clubs and Performing Arts, Athletics, and supporting one another in building a welcoming school community. We are proud of their efforts and excited about the momentum we’re seeing across campus.
We also want to share a couple of important reminders. Recently, we have seen an uptick in vandalism around the school. Please talk with your student about the importance of respecting our shared spaces. If a student is found responsible for vandalism, they will be required to pay restitution for the damaged items. As always, if you see something, say something—concerns can be reported directly to the main office at Info.phs@battlegroundps.org.
Finally, as we approach Winter Break, please remember that we have only three weeks in December and three weeks in January before the end of 1st Semester. The Break can be an excellent time for students to log into Skyward, review their progress, and complete any missing assignments so they can finish the semester strong.
Thank you for your continued support—together, we are helping our students thrive!

This month I want to share a quick overview of the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) we use here at Prairie and is used district wide. The SRP gives students and staff simple, common language to follow during any emergency or drill. You may hear your student mention these terms at home:
HOLD – Stay in the classroom, hallways are cleared.
SECURE – Get inside, lock outside doors.
LOCKDOWN – Locks, lights, out of sight.
EVACUATE – Move to the announced location.
SHELTER – Follow safety steps for a specific hazard.
The use of a hold or secure are more likely and are not indicative of a school-wide emergency. For instance, a hold may be called if a student or staff member has a medical emergency and we need to keep the halls open for fire or EMS. A secure may be called if there is police activity in the area but the school is not directly impacted.
If your student brings up a drill or has questions, it’s a great opportunity for a quick conversation at home about safety and staying calm in unexpected situations.
As always, I’m here for your students and for you. If you would like more information on the SRP, you can visit the I Love You Guys Foundation website.
