Clark County Youth Achievement Awards were selected for the 2025 recognition!

Congratulations to our Laurin students. The Clark County Youth Commission is pleased to present the 24th annual Youth Achievement Awards, recognizing the achievements of youth who demonstrate personal growth and community contribution.

Greetings from Laurin Nursing Team,

Please make arrangements to pick up any medications your child may have left over at school after the final day of student attendance. 

Medication can be picked up by an adult through the health room or main office during normal school business hours. Any leftover medications still in the health room at the end of the school year will be stored in a locked cabinet until 3pm on June 26, 2025. Medications that remain at school after that time shall be destroyed. 

End of the year paperwork to include paperwork to be signed/completed for the following school year 20252-26 will be emailed to parents/guardians the last week of May 2025. All paperwork is to be updated every school year. Instructions provided in email if you need a hard copy provided. 

Thank you for allowing us to meet your child's health care needs while at Laurin!

Track and Field Meet Schedule

Competitions: All meets will be held at either PHS or BGHS. Transportation will be provided to most meets; guardians must pick their student athletes up from every meet.

Hello 8th Grade Families,

The end of the year is approaching quickly and we need your help. Two fundraisers have gone out, but we have not received the funds needed to fully support the celebration.

Please fill out the form and send it back to the school as soon as possible. We will be sending out paper copies next week as well.  Please support the celebration so we can make the event amazing celebrating the kids' years at Laurin and a big send off to high school.

2025 High School Summer Credit Recovery Courses

2025 High School Summer Credit Recovery Courses

Program Description: High school credit recovery is available to current 9th - 12th-grade students who want to recover courses they have failed in high school. Current 8th-grade students may also recover the WA State History Requirement. This program is free to all students needing to recover high school credit. 

Students will complete coursework online and can access course(s) from home 24/7.  Certified teachers will be available to provide virtual support throughout the month of July. Students may recover up to two .5 semester credits for a total of 1.0 credit. Upon successful completion of a course, students will receive a pass/fail grade and credit. 

Final proctored exams are administered during the weeks of July 28-August 1 and August 4-8, 2025.  Finals are completed at Battle Ground High School Media Center during the hours of 9:00am - 3:00pm. No appointment is necessary, however, students should come before the last hour of the day to ensure they have enough time to complete the exam. For questions, please email summerschool@battlegroundps.org.  For questions between July 28-August 8, you can also call (360) 433-4028.

Summer School Assistance Schedule:

  • Virtual teacher support is June 30-July 25 via email (If emailing outside of 9 am - 3 pm, do not expect a response until the following day)

  • Proctored finals testing is July 28-Aug. 1 and Aug. 4-8, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm, Monday – Friday

  • In-person proctored exams will be held in the Battle Ground High School Media Center

  • Students must bring their fully charged Chromebooks and their own earbuds

Registration: Students may register starting on May 1, 2025, using the registration link here. Registration ends July 3, 2025. 

All courses will be uploaded on or before June 30.  Students may begin working on the course as soon as they receive an email indicating that they have been activated, however, teacher support is not available until June 30, 2025.

New FirstView bus app launching this month

New FirstView bus app launching this month

First Student, the district’s student transportation provider, has launched a new version of their FirstView bus tracking app. Please be aware that the older FirstView app will be disabled after mid-May.

The updated app will allow parents and guardians to securely monitor their child‘s daily trips, view near real-time bus locations, view updates or delay notifications and set up family members or caregivers to also receive trip alerts, plus much more. Please be aware that the code to access the parent side of the app is changing. It will be K1Q0K for the updated app.

LEGO Summer Academy returns for students in grades K through 8

Back by popular demand, LEGO Summer Academy is returning for K-8 students. Build cool creations, learn basic computer programming, boost grade-level reading skills using core literacy curriculum, practice grade-level math through workplace activities and group work. Spots will fill up quickly, so register today!

Community Education summer camps expand to five days a week

New this year, Battle Ground Community Education will be offering a variety of summer camp opportunities five days a week! Pick from a selection of half-day camps, day camps or weekly camps. Activities include QuickStart sports camps, dance and cheer camps and workshops, SHAPE NW theme camps and the Prairie High School volleyball camp. Get more details and sign up on the BGCE website.

2025-26 school calendar - key dates

The Battle Ground school board recently approved the 2025-26 academic calendar. Here are some of the key dates:

  • First day of school - Tuesday, Aug. 26

  • Thanksgiving break - Nov. 26-28

  • Winter break - Dec. 22, 2025, through Jan. 2, 2026

  • Spring break - April 6-10

  • Last day of school (weather dependent) - Wednesday, June 10, 2026

May school lunch menus

May school breakfast and lunch menus are  available via Nutrislice and the district website. Meal expenses can be paid through InTouch Receipting. 

Boundary exceptions for 2025-26 school year

All families with in-district or out-of-district boundary exceptions (choice transfers) for the 2024-2025 school year need to reapply for the 2025-26 school year.

Please note a change to Choice Transfers for 2024-25 and beyond. Battle Ground Public Schools has switched from paper forms to an online application through the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. 

Applications for out-of-district student Choice Transfers in 2025-26 will be accepted starting at 7 a.m. on May 1. Applications submitted prior to that date will be denied, and the family will need to submit a new application after May 1. Applications will be processed in the order in which they are received.

Enroll now for kindergarten next fall

Any child who will be 5 years old by Aug. 31, 2025, is eligible to enroll in kindergarten this fall. Enroll now to make sure your child can attend kindergarten orientation in the spring.

Ensuring all students have access to a quality education is a primary focus for Battle Ground Public Schools. Technology is a key to enabling access for students with various needs and challenges. Common accessibility tools include text-to-speech (read aloud), speech-to-text (voice dictation), color contrast options and magnification adjustments.

Employee Recognition Award

Do you know an amazing staff member? The new Employee Recognition Awards will highlight staff members who reflect the district’s strategic plan goals. Three nominees will be selected each month and recognized at a board meeting. Everyone is welcome to submit a nomination.

Looking for something to do?

Be sure to check out our Community Events page for fun ideas of things to do throughout the local community. Nonprofit organizations looking to share their own upcoming events are welcome to submit a flyer to be included. Flyers are posted on the community events webpage and printed at relevant schools on their community bulletin boards. The BGPS community flyer checklist provides information about what is required for flyer submission.
