Clothes Closet is ready for students, families

The Clothes Closet offers clothing and shoes as well as hygiene and household items, some cleaning supplies and school supplies. The closet is open to any student currently enrolled in a BGPS school and their family.

Make an appointment to visit the closet

The closet is part of the district's Family and Community Resource Center. The center relies in part on donations and volunteers to support students. Learn more about the center and how you can help.

Students, staff member contribute to Salmon Creek mural project

 

This September, a retaining wall near Klineline Pond was given new life in the form of a mural that celebrates healthy streams. The transformation was thanks in part to Pleasant Valley Middle School students Evelyn Walsh and Miriam Calcavura, Communication Specialist Jenna Buescher-Hill and 50 other artists who contributed to the new mural.

Middle school student leaders convene for skill building and fun

Student leaders from middle schools across Clark County came together in early October for Fall Leadership Day. Hosted by the Association of Washington Student Leaders, this event was a chance to build connections, share ideas and create plans to strengthen school culture. What an inspiring day of leadership, teamwork and growth!

Prairie H.S. celebrates new student-run credit union branch

The new student-run iQ Credit Union branch at Prairie High School is now open for business! The school celebrated with a ribbon cutting on Oct. 14. Students who help run the branch will gain a variety of financial and business skills for life after high school.

October school board meeting updates

BGPS’ board of directors held one special meeting/work session and two regular meetings in October. 

  • Watch the Oct. 13, 2025, regular meeting. During this meeting, the board approved:
    • Revised policy 3210 regarding nondiscrimination 
    • Revised policy 4260 regarding the use of school facilities
  • Watch the Oct. 27, 2025, special meeting/work session and regular meeting. During this meeting, the board approved:
    • Revised policy 3241 regarding student discipline
    • Collective bargaining agreement between Public School Employees of Battle Ground and Battle Ground Public Schools
    • Revised policy 5011 prohibiting sexual harassment of district staff
    • Revised policy 1111 regarding the oath of office for directors
    • Revised policy 1210 regarding the annual organizational meeting
    • First reading of new policy 1821 regarding the standards of individual board directors

Upcoming meetings
Regular meetings will be held on Nov. 10 and Nov. 24 at 6 p.m. A special meeting/work session will also be held on Nov. 10 starting at 4 p.m.

Construction on the new BGVA

Construction starts on new home for Battle Ground Virtual Academy

 

Construction is underway on a new building for the school that serves approximately 574 students. The new building will be located on Prairie High School's campus, on the corner lot across the street from Winco. Construction is paid for through impact fees.

National Principals Month

This October, we recognize the principals and assistant principals who shape our schools and communities. They are instructional leaders, mentors, community builders and advocates who make a difference in countless ways--often behind the scenes. We thank them for everything that they do to make a difference for each and every student!

 
Breydon Cluer

Commended Student

Congratulations to Prairie High School's Breydon Cluer, who was named a Commended Student in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program. Across the nation, approximately 34,000 Commended Students are recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2026 competition by taking the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Way to go, Breydon!

Enspire Arts' 2025–2026 Arts Ambassadors.

Arts Ambassador

Eva Cryblskey, a student at River HomeLink, has been named a 2025-26 Arts Ambassador by the nonprofit Enspire Arts. The ambassador program is a Clark County youth arts leadership initiative designed to support and empower young artists. Cryblskey received a scholarship to support her arts instruction and has been paired with a mentor to develop a community-based arts project. In addition, the five ambassadors will perform at the Enspire Extravaganza on Feb. 28, 2026, at the Joyce Garver Theater in Camas.

Greenhouse

Student-built greenhouse for sale

Looking for a new greenhouse? Consider purchasing one made by students in Battle Ground High School's Geometry in Construction class (price: $1,000). They currently have one greenhouse in stock and can make additional items on a pre-order basis. If you have an idea for something that you would like them to build, they would be happy to give you a bid. Please contact teacher Bradley Scott (scott.bradley@battlegroundps.org) with questions.

We are looking for volunteers! Volunteers play an important role in creating positive and supportive learning environments for students. Activities include helping in classrooms and school offices, greeting students, assisting with student pickup and more.

Have you returned your ballot? The deadline to vote in the Nov. 4 special/general election is almost here. Learn more on the Clark County Elections Office's website. Once you have returned your ballot, you can also verify that it was accepted and counted.
