Bus routes are now available online. For questions about school district bus service, call your school or First Student at 360-841-7099, ext. 103 or 104. Please be aware that the first several weeks of school can often see changes to routes as First Student makes adjustments. Any changes impacting riders will be communicated by your child’s school.
Due to road construction in many areas of the district, some buses may need to take a detour and/or may be delayed. For the most up-to-date route information, late alerts, notifications when your student is close to home, etc., we strongly recommend installing the FirstView mobile app, available through the Apple App Store and Google Play. PLEASE NOTE: The district code has changed this year. To use the app, enter the four-digit code LMWV. Get instructions for installing the app.
All families are required to complete the annual student update every year before school begins (Wednesday, Aug. 30). To complete the student update, please log in to Skyward (Family Access) and click “2024-25 annual student update” (do not select new student online enrollment) on the navigation bar in the left column of the webpage. Get instructions with screenshots. If you do not remember your password, click “Forgot your Login/Password” on the login page to have it sent to your email address that is on file with the district. If you do not have a login, please call your school office. The student update provides an opportunity to fill out required forms online and ensures the district has correct contact information for families.
If you would like to receive text messages, be sure to enter your cell number when you complete the update. You will see three fields for phone numbers. In the second phone field, choose "cell" from the dropdown menu, and enter your cellphone number.
The first day of school for all students except kindergarten is Tuesday, Aug. 27. School will start at the regular time on Wednesday, Aug. 28. There will be no one-hour late start. The first one-hour late start of the school year is Sept. 4.
To help students ease into the school year and accommodate any end-of-summer travel plans, Friday, Aug. 30, will be a non-attendance day for students. Monday, Sept. 2 (Labor Day) also is a non-attendance day for students. View the full schedule on the district website.
Head to our website for more back-to-school information, including school start times, the first day of school, when class schedules are released and more!
We are excited to welcome students back starting next week! Just take a photo of your child on their first day and post it to social media using #BGPSBack2School. Staff photos are welcome too! We'll share your photos in a fun video that will be posted on the district's Facebook and Instagram accounts (have you followed us there yet?). We're looking forward to seeing you!
Starting this year, Battle Ground Public Schools is partnering with Chartwells to provide breakfast and lunch at school. Menus are still available via Nutrislice and meal expenses can still be paid through InTouch Receipting, just like last year. Printable menus are also available through September (Primary Schools) (Middle Schools) (High Schools).
Battle Ground Public Schools will soon launch brand-new school and district websites and a new mass communication system. Our intent is to improve your communication experience, making it easier for you to find information quickly and easily. In the future, you will receive text messages from 98900. You can opt out any time. Download the new Battle Ground Public Schools app from the Apple App Store or Google Play to view updates and receive notifications.
Middle school students looking to participate in girls basketball or co-ed cross country can register now. Practices will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 4. Information and registration links for each middle school are on the district website. Students must have completed a sports physical prior to participating in their first practice. Physical clearance is good for 24 months.
Registration for each sport opens three weeks prior to the start of the season. Students who participate in middle school sports pay a one-time $40 fee per sport that covers some program costs such as transportation between games and officials. Find out if your family qualifies for waived activity fees. All fines and current fees must be paid before the first contest.
Battle Ground Public Schools is committed to making sure our community is involved in decisions about student learning and other initiatives. Our Citizens Advisory Committee meets once per month to discuss school programs, policies and issues through an advisory role to the superintendent and school board. We are accepting applications for this year’s Committee through Friday, Aug. 23. You can get more information and apply on the district website.
Children attending Battle Ground Public Schools may be eligible to receive $120 each as part of a Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer program known as SUN Bucks. The deadline to apply for SUN Bucks is Sunday, Aug. 31. Families who qualify now still have approximately four months to use the funds.
Thank you and have a great evening,
