Wednesday, Sept. 11, is a one-hour late start to allow time for teachers to work together to implement best practices of high-quality instruction. Students will be released at usual times.
The state Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction requires school districts to report a family's preferred language for communication, in addition to the language that they speak at home. Whether your family's language is English or a language other than English, please make a selection in Skyward Family Access so that you can receive information in that language.
Students can register for standardized tests that are used for credits, college/university admissions and more. Upcoming testing opportunities include the SAT on Oct. 5, PSAT/NMSQT on Oct. 26 and World Language Testing on Oct. 26. Learn more.
A message sent on Wednesday, Sept. 4, to students in grades 10-12 regarding upcoming PSAT/NMSQT testing contained an incorrect sign-up deadline. The correct deadline is Friday, Oct. 18.
As we begin a new school year and athletic season, we want to take a moment to remind all student-athletes, coaches, volunteers, parents/guardians and spectators of the expectations. Please join us in keeping our athletic activities safe and enjoyable for everyone involved.
Did you know Battle Ground Public Schools offers the ability to watch a variety of fall sports through the BGTV 27 YouTube channel and a partnership with TV Etc. and Comcast? It’s true! This week, catch the BGHS Tigers girls soccer team taking on Mountain View at District Stadium. The match starts at 7 p.m. on BGTV 27. Check out our website for more broadcast dates and times as they are added.
Chartwells, the district’s nutrition services provider, has released printable menus for primary and middle schools through September. Menus can also be viewed online via Nutrislice and meal expenses can be paid through InTouch Receipting.
Thank you for working to maintain your child’s attendance. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential to student learning and success. The skills that students learn in primary school will help them be successful in middle and high school. A student’s attendance often can predict whether they are likely to graduate high school on time. Learn more.
Battle Ground Public Schools is partnering with Care Solace to provide access to their network of mental health providers and services. Visit the Safety Study Hall website, a place for schools, students, and families to learn about safety topics.
This year, Battle Ground Public Schools joins most Southwest Washington schools and districts in using the Standard Response Protocol for emergencies. Depending on the situation, a school will be placed in a hold, secure, lockdown, evacuation or shelter. See what these terms mean. This common language helps schools, first responders and the community communicate clearly and effectively to reduce misunderstandings in emergency situations.
Please report bullying, intimidation, harassment, threats and safety concerns using our anonymous reporting system. Emergencies should always be reported to 911. Learn more about emergency procedures and safety protocols.
Hear from the mayor of Battle Ground, Troy McCoy, who is a former BGPS school board member. In the spotlight are Donna Eskelson-Smith and a couple of students who are involved in Unified sports at Prairie High School. Listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or Amazon Music!
The BGPS Bulletin is full of great stories about what’s happening in and around the Battle Ground Public Schools. If you’re not already signed up, be sure to subscribe so you can stay up to date and in the know.
Due to the end of temporary pandemic relief funding, BGPS has discontinued automatic access to Lexia, the reading program for primary students. Going forward, Lexia will only be available to students identified as needing additional reading support. If you have concerns about a primary student’s reading level, please reach out to their teacher.
All Washington children up to age 5 can register to receive one book every month, for free, from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Visit the Imagination Library website to sign up.
