The first one-hour late start of the school year is Wednesday, Sept. 4. This allows time for teachers to work together to implement best practices of high-quality instruction. Students will be released at normal times.
Battle Ground Public Schools has launched new websites, along with a brand new mobile app! You can find the mobile app on the Apple App Store and Google Play. It will allow you to set notifications for individual schools, quickly view updates, get alerts on weather-impacted days and much more.
Late last week, First Student, the district’s transportation service provider, completed the first round of updates for bus routes throughout the district. You should have received a separate notification from your child’s school(s) if their pick-up and/or drop-off time was impacted by more than five minutes.
Please be aware that kindergarten students began full-time attendance this week. As these students become familiar with school routines, buses could be delayed up to 20 minutes, especially during afternoon dropoff. In addition, road construction in many areas may cause delays. Thank you for your understanding. To monitor your child’s bus location, please download the FirstView app (Apple App Store) (Google Play). The district code to set up the app this year is LMWV. Get instructions for installing the app.
Middle school girls basketball or co-ed cross country practices begin on Wednesday, Sept. 4. Information and registration links for each middle school are on the district website. Students must have completed a sports physical prior to participating in their first practice. The physical is valid for 24 months.
The Battle Ground Public Schools board of directors met on Monday, Aug. 26. Video of the meeting and a summary of the agenda are available on the district website. The board’s next meeting will be Monday, Sept. 9, 6 p.m. at the Lewisville campus and streaming online.
During the Aug. 26 meeting, the board unanimously approved the budget for the 2024-25 school year. Information is available on the district website.
This year, Battle Ground Public Schools joins most Southwest Washington schools and districts in using the Standard Response Protocol for emergencies. Depending on the situation, a school will be placed in a hold, secure, lockdown, evacuation or shelter. See what these terms mean. This common language helps schools, first responders and the community communicate clearly and effectively to reduce misunderstandings in emergency situations.
Please report bullying, intimidation, harassment, threats and safety concerns using our anonymous reporting system. Emergencies should always be reported to 911. Learn more about emergency procedures and safety protocols.
Thank you for working to maintain your child’s attendance. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential to student learning and success. The skills that students learn in primary school will help them be successful in middle and high school. A student’s attendance often can predict whether they are likely to graduate high school on time. Learn more.
Students can register for standardized tests that are used for credits, college/university admissions and more. Upcoming testing opportunities include the SAT on Oct. 5, PSAT/NMSQT on Oct. 26 and World Language Testing on Oct. 26. Learn more.
Due to the end of temporary pandemic relief funding, BGPS has discontinued automatic access to Lexia, the reading program for primary students. Going forward, Lexia will only be available to students identified as needing additional reading support. If you have concerns about a primary student’s reading level, please reach out to their teacher.
All Washington children up to age 5 can register to receive one book every month, for free, from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Visit the Imagination Library website to sign up.
On Tuesday, Aug. 27, Battle Ground Public Schools welcomed students back for the start of the 2024-25 school year. Here is a short video highlighting just a handful of the memorable moments from the start of the 2024-25 school year. Enjoy!
