Enthusiasm grows in third year of middle school sports

Now in their third year, middle school sports continue to grow across the district's six middle schools.

Organized sports help students learn leadership and communication skills. High schools in the district say more freshmen are participating in sports after having experienced them in middle school.

BGHS cadets help honor the memory of those lost on 9/11

BGHS cadets help lower the American flag to half staff

Wednesday marked the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Members of the Battle Ground High School Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps joined Clark County Fire District 3 at a Patriot Day ceremony.

Cadet corps commander Jack McAleer read a national decree before a color guard of cadets and firefighters presented the colors and lowered the flag to half staff.

BGPS’ board of directors held a regular meeting on Monday, Sept. 9. A summary and link to the recording are available on the district website.

The board's next meeting will be Monday, Sept. 23, starting with a special meeting/work session at 4:30 p.m. and the regular meeting at 6 p.m. Both will be held at the Lewisville campus and streaming online.

Fall high school sports broadcast schedule

High school fall sports are ramping up across the district. Battle Ground Public Schools is fortunate to feature live broadcasts of many games via the BGTV 27 YouTube channel and TV Etc. on Comcast channels 27, 28/328 and 29.

Tickets on sale for BGEF's Destination Graduation fundraiser

BGeF Destination Graduation graphic

Battle Ground Education Foundation, a nonprofit that assists students and families throughout the school district, is gearing up for Destination Graduation, their largest fundraiser of the year. Tickets are currently on sale for the in-person dinner and silent auction on Saturday, Oct. 5. The virtual auction runs Oct. 3-6.

Volunteers make the difference! From kindergarten to high school and taking on a variety of roles, volunteers from the community help our students succeed.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the school at which you wish to volunteer to see what type of clearance is needed. Some volunteer positions may require additional clearances that have an associated fee.

Bus drivers
BGPS' transportation provider, First Student, is in need of part-time bus drivers. Get more details on First Student driving careers, including sign-on bonuses starting at $1,500 ($3,500 for experienced drivers).

Chartwells K-12 nutrition services
Chartwells, the district's new nutrition services provider, is currently hiring. Most jobs including a starting salary of $21/hour and up. Find out more and apply.
