The end of every school year includes a bittersweet farewell to valued employees heading off into retirement. This year, we bid best wishes to nearly three dozen employees comprising almost 730 years of service to Battle Ground students and our school communities. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for their many years of dedication to helping our students succeed and wish them well in their next journey.

Shoutout to the Pleasant Valley Middle School marching band and color guard on winning the Sweepstakes Award at the recent Jr. Rose Festival parade. The award recognizes bands for crisp and uniform marching formations, flag displays and musical performance. In short, it's kind of a big deal. Way to go, Patriots!
(If you were unable to attend the parade, you can view their performance during FOX 12 Oregon's coverage. The PVM performance starts at the 43:45 mark.)
Students in the ASPIRE program at Captain Strong Primary recently presented a play on the history of Washington state. Tracing from the original Washington territory to treaties with Native American tribes, the emergence of the fur trade and timber industries and much more, this presentation was the culmination of the class's history assignment for the year. It was amazing to see these third and fourth graders recite from memory complex histories of the region. Well done, students!
