School finance 101

In this new series, we’re breaking down the why, how and how much of school finance, starting with where the money comes from. In Washington state, school funding usually comes from four sources:

  • State funding

  • Local taxes

  • Bonds

  • Federal funding

Show me how each of these sources contributes to school district finances.

Battle Ground legacy night brings together alumni, staff

This event was designed to honor the past and present contributions of the students and staff members who have shaped Battle Ground Public Schools. In fact, many alumni went on to work for the district and continue to give back to their schools and community. Thank you to everyone who participated! Watch a video from the event.

Dot Day makes a mark

Students and staff at Pleasant Valley Middle School collaborated on a schoolwide art and literacy project for International Dot Day on Sept. 15. Inspired by the book The Dot, which tells the story of a young artist discovering creative expression and gaining confidence, art teacher Carly Boudreau organized the school so that every student could participate in creating a radial design. Boudreau then brought all of the designs together to create a visually striking display of color and imagination in the school's media center. Great job, PVM Patriots!
