Update on the 2025-26 district budget
While it is never easy making budget decisions that result in the loss of valued staff members, Battle Ground Public Schools remains committed to transparency and communication throughout this process.
Due to some changes in our budget outlook, we will be able to preserve about 30% of the positions and programs that were initially slated for reduction. However, approximately 70% of the planned reductions will still move forward due to the loss of local levy funding.
See the list of positions and programs that will be preserved and what will remain on the cut list, and find out how these decisions were made.
For more information and to remain updated throughout this process, please follow our budget cuts webpage.

May 27 school board meeting update
BGPS’ board of directors met for a special meeting/work session at 3:45 p.m. and a regular meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27. Video and notes from that meeting are available on the district website. The board will next meet on Monday, June 9, for a regular meeting at 4 p.m. (PLEASE NOTE: This is earlier than the normal time due to the graduation for CAM Academy happening at 7 p.m.) You are invited to attend in-person at the Lewisville campus (406 NW 5th Ave., Battle Ground) or watch the meeting online.
Battle Ground volunteer and teacher honored as local education heroes
Each year, the nonprofit Identity Clark County honors staff members and volunteers from school districts and higher education institutions across Southwest Washington. On May 20, 2025, Yacolt Primary teacher Daniela Alexakis and Tukes Valley Primary volunteer Olesea Neaga were recognized as Battle Ground Public Schools' Learn Here Heroes.
Learn more about Olesea and Daniela.
Congratulations to Daniela, Olesea and all of this year's Learn Here Heroes! And thank you to Identity Clark County and the local businesses supporting Southwest Washington education.
Five BGPS schools earn high marks for performance
More than a quarter of Battle Ground Public Schools’ 19 schools have been recognized by the Washington State Board of Education for exceptional achievement, growth and efforts to close educational gaps during the 2023-24 academic year. Earned by only 16% of public schools statewide, this recognition highlights achievements in key areas of student success.

Professional Learning Communities, school improvement plans, waiver days and other efforts to improve instructional practice are all paying off. Congratulations to the staff, students and families at each of these schools!”
